The idea this time was to make a pair of SCA legal gauntlets that wouldn't look out of place with a Norman armour- Stealth Gauntlets. These are based loosely on the Wisby gauntlets, with a minimum of fluting to be as low-profile as possible. The material is heat treated 4130 steel, .032 inches (about 22 ga) thick, and browned to resemble leather gloves from a distance.

Each gauntlet weighs about 24 ounces, or a pound and a half. In contrast, the 18 ga stainless steel gauntlets that I regularly fight in weigh about 45 ounces each....

The fingers and gadlings were made deep enough to transfer impacts to the weapon haft, and the thumbtips are fully enclosed.
